Arungarai Amman Temple
Kongu Vellala Gounder community is predominantly living in Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and some part of Mysore districts. There are many divisions within this community called as Kulam or Kootam. Each Kulam/Kootam has its own Kulaguru and Kula Deivam or Ishta Deivam. They are considered as brothers and sisters. In temples, it is a common practice to pray their divine idols which are specific to a Koottam/Kulam
Goddess Arungarai Amman is the Kula Deivam for Venduvan Kootam, Pannai, and Panayan Kootam. Amman is also called as "Nalla Thai". The temple is situated on the banks of Amaravathi river in the Koodalur Village near Thirumangalam, Karur District, Tamil Nadu.
